Weight Gain Tips For Ectomorphs

Whenever you try to advise a Ectomorph, the first response that you hear in most cases is: "I've tried eating more and everything else but I never gained weight, I will always be very thin and lean".

It is not uncommon to see Ectomorphs in bodybuilding world, they are the ripped lightweights and middleweights type. They don't bulk like other heavyweight bodybuilders. It is not that they have not been successful bodybuilders. However, there is a lot more consistent hard work and training and disciplined eating practices that goes into it. Here are five simple ideas that have been proved to work in most of the cases.

  1. Figure Out Your Eating Pattern:

    If you are an Ectomorph and you feel that you can get away by eating any type of food without any ill effect on your body, then it is the right time for giving up that habit. Remember, what counts towards your muscle growth is your nutrient intake and not calorie intake. If you think that just by eating more calories you can grow up or build muscle than drop that idea now. Pick up a healthy balanced diet that provides your body with correct amount of protein, carbohydrates and vital. It is the best way to make a healthy and definite growth.

  2. Time To Change Your Attitude:

    Get out of those high stress and high pressure lifestyle. Ectomorphs generally are thin, hyperactive people with fast metabolism rate. Try out stress reducing techniques. Meditation or yoga may be helpful. Regular exercising also reduces stress hormones.

  3. Leave Those Long Workout Routines Behind:

    For Ectomorphs, long workout routines can turn negative. So, marathon workouts won't work for you. Ectomorphs need to focus on High Intensity Training as advised by Sean Nalewanyj & The Musclehead. That is the way to go if you are looking to build muscle or gain some weight fast. Reduce your time in gym and do it fast.

  4. Get Disciplined Towards Your Meals:

    If you want to gain some weight and are serious about that, then just get this into your head. You are going to need more calories. You need to eat more, take more calories. Think of it like a simple maths equation the more calories you add the higher the chances of increasing your weight. Skipping meals is the #1 cardinal sin for the ectomorph.

  5. Get Good Amount Of Rest:

    If you are an Ectomorph then you are going to need a lot more sleep. You can think that you gain weight while you sleep. Remember Ectomorph burn calories at a much faster level, so a good amount of sleep helps them preserve some of it. Take proper sleep at scheduled times.
